EPOS hardware

EPOS systems usually comprise the same hardware elements, but they can vary in how they look, their reliability, processing power and cost.

Your EPOS system hardware will often include the following elements:

  • Touchscreen monitor: runs the EPOS software to look up stock and quickly process customer purchases
  • Barcode scanner: scans barcoded labels on products, registering the sale on the touchscreen monitor
  • Receipt printer: prints customised receipts for the customer to take away once the purchase is complete
  • Cash drawer: a secure drawer to store cash, accessible via the click of a button on the EPOS software
